On Monday, our staff will join America in celebrating Labor Day with families and friends. I’ve never been a member of a union, for which the holiday was founded, though I’ve done a bit of what I thought was hard labor.
Back in 1974, when my friend Charles Driebe and I launched the Buckhead Bricklayers (motto: “We Lay for Less”), we hired several friends to help haul bricks and mix cement.
I still own a couple of businesses and greatly appreciate my current teammates who do the “heavy lifting” – even if it’s confined to hauling around laptops and video equipment.
