The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is making waves in the film and music industries with its inaugural documentary, “The South Got Something to Say,” chronicling Atlanta’s hip-hop history.

Directed by Ryon and Tyson Horne and written by AJC journalists Ernie Suggs and DeAsia Paige, the 90-minute film features interviews with numerous Atlanta artists, including T.I., Lil Yachty, DMC of Run DMC, Arrested Development, Jermaine Dupri and more.

The title came from the 1995 Source Awards when Andre 3000 and Big Boi were booed on stage. At that moment, Andre 3000 gave voice to Atlanta, saying, “The South got something to say.”
