According to a recent AJC article, Atlanta’s 29-county region ranks as the sixth largest metropolitan region in the U.S. While cities like Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. are growing, none match the pace of Atlanta, where the metro area experienced the third largest local population increase nationwide between 2022 and 2023.
The U.S. Census Bureau anticipates this trend to continue over the next few years. Recently, Georgia’s growth surpassed the threshold of 11 million residents statewide. In the past year alone, Atlanta’s growth extended to North Georgia, including Dawson, Jackson and Athens, highlighting its expanding influence and population surge.
