Georgia has joined a 33-state bipartisan coalition in filing a federal lawsuit against Meta, accusing the social media giant of intentionally designing addictive features for young people across its platforms.
The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court of Northern California, claiming Meta knew of its harmful impact. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr spoke about joining the coalition, stating that his office has become increasingly concerned with Meta possibly marketing to children despite knowing the risks posed to their mental health and well-being.
Meta has since responded, expressing disappointment in the states involved for taking them to court.
