Video Games and Divorce

by

The popular video game The Sims has a 6 percent divorce rate – 34 percent lower than the U.S. average. Vice recently attempted to explain why those characters live happily ever after.

Psychotherapists said Sims marriages succeed because the computer and user want a successful union. In real life, often only one person wants the marriage to work. Divorce is similar. The person requesting the divorce frequently wants a “healthy divorce,” while the other party may not want a divorce at all.

Take this virtual lesson into the real world. If parties work together, marriages and divorces can be more harmonious.
