As 1,800+ students graduate from Macon’s Mercer University this weekend, many will take memorable graduation photos on Cruz Plaza – replete with flowers, lush open space and iconic bronze bear statue.
Recently that backdrop was an abandoned road that students and faculty avoided. Atlanta-based landscape and design firm HGOR and Mercer had a bigger vision for the space – creating a usable green space outfitted with dramatic pedestrian and aesthetic upgrades that have drastically altered campus circulation patterns.
HGOR – which previously enriched campuses at Berry, Emory, UGA, Georgia Tech, Lovett and Wesleyan – has just begun scratching the surface at Mercer. Stay tuned.
