Before serving millions of customers across the nation, Havertys operated out of a single store in downtown Atlanta, delivering furniture by horse and buggy.
While Atlanta began to recover from the Civil War, brothers J.J. and Michael Haverty opened a furniture store in 1885. Havertys Furniture prospered and expanded over the next century, surviving The Great Depression, changes in retail trends and other challenges.
With over 100 stores in 16 states, Havertys is one of the top furniture retailers in the South and central U.S. today. Over the years, the company has made generous contributions to national causes and organizations.
