Lemon8 rises in popularity

by The 100 Companies

As lawmakers continue going back and forth on a possible TikTok ban due to increasing data privacy concerns, Chinese-based parent company ByteDance has seen a sudden surge in popularity for its lifestyle app, Lemon8. Although the social media app was originally launched in 2020, it just recently became available for U.S. residents in February 2023.

A blend of Instagram and Pinterest, the app features a mix of photos, videos and blog-style content, focusing on categories like fashion, beauty, food, wellness, travel and home. The Gen Z-focused app also uses recommendation algorithms, which could be compared to those used by TikTok.
