After shooting major events for SPR Atlanta and witnessing cameras from local media outlets in action, I’ve learned to shoot with media in mind. You won’t always get the opportunity to see your footage in a news story, but it’s an incredible feeling when you do.
Be prepared and make sure you’re covering the most newsworthy aspects of the event. Get as much b-roll – footage of events that can be used while the interviewee is speaking – as possible.
After you have your footage, offer it to media outlets. Your company may just supply the media with some solid coverage.
