My sweet mother’s been blessed with a long life, but she’s starting to show her age. She’ll turn 99 Halloween and there’s nothing physically ailing her – except all the nagging issues one accumulates over time.
Recently, her mind started playing tricks on her. She remembers names of her five children, old friends and long-ago stories, but wakes up wrestling with dreams merging into reality.
Lately, she’s convinced a party will start any minute – worrying where everyone will sit and how we’ll feed them. More than anything, she’s afraid she’ll miss it. She won’t. She’s still the life of the party.
