Gas engines offer more horsepower. Diesel engines offer more torque. What’s the difference?
It’s speed versus pull: a track athlete versus a bodybuilder. Gas engines can eventually sprint away, but the diesel kicks off faster, making diesel-fueled cars and trucks a delight to drive within the legal limits.
A diesel is the perfect choice to amplify an already stellar little hatchback from GM. Though it starts a little higher than its gas equivalent ($24k vs $20k), the turbodiesel Cruze offers delightful low-end kick, better fuel economy, and will hold its value much longer than its gas-powered counterpart.
