COVID-19 still at the forefront as we enter 2022

Less than two months after Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms issued an executive order lifting the city-wide mask mandate, it was officially reissued on Dec. 21. With a 200% increase in COVID-19 cases in Atlanta last week, several local businesses shut down due to infected staff.

While studies have shown that the Omicron variant is more transmissible than its Delta counterpart and cases seem to be less severe in nature, its arrival did put a damper on Christmas plans for many.

The White House stated that there are currently no plans for another lockdown, but Americans are being urged to get vaccinated.
