Animal lovers, rejoice! A new $40 million animal shelter is expected to open tomorrow, Dec. 2 to combat the severe overcrowding in the Fulton County Animal Shelter. This facility is said to be designed more like a modern hospital and can support 376 dogs, 99 cats, 12 small animals, 18 chickens and six livestock.

The facility features 33 outdoor play yards, a barn, a chicken coop, a 54,000-square-foot pasture, separate ventilation systems for sick animals and fewer kennels with more open areas for animals to roam.

The shelter is located near the Fulton County Airport at 1251 Fulton Industrial Blvd.
