I have backed over 30 Kickstarter campaigns, but I have yet to pledge a single dollar on rival crowdfunding site IndieGoGo.
If you want to know why, you need to look no further than Triton. The creators of this “artificial gills” underwater breathing system recently refunded close to $1 million to backers when they admitted they misled everyone about the science behind their revolutionary device.
Unlike Kickstarter, which has a stricter pre-launch review process and an all-or-nothing funding model, IndieGoGo has seen many similar “fishy” projects launch with “Flexible Funding” goals. Until that changes, I’ll stay away.
