Atlanta Public Schools ditch diesel for electric buses

by The 100 Companies

Over 25 million children utilize school buses every day during the school year, which provides convenience for parents but also some not-so-great health impacts for everyone involved. Diesel exhaust, especially for young children whose lungs are not fully developed, can cause some serious health and environmental issues.

This is why Atlanta Public Schools (APS) has partnered with The Lion Electric Company to transition 25 buses in its fleet from older diesel-powered to clean energy, zero-emission electric ones that also cost significantly less to operate. Through federal and state funding incentives, $9.875 million was awarded to APS for the health-conscious upgrade.
