Recently released by Disney+, “The One and Only Ivan” tells the inspiring story of a gorilla whose journey ultimately leads him to a better life. Based on the book written by Katherine Applegate, the movie is full of humor, entertainment and truth as it’s inspired by the real Ivan’s true story.
Born in the wild and captured as an infant, Ivan lived for almost 30 years in a suburban shopping mall as its star attraction. A national outcry over his confinement led him to a spacious home at Zoo Atlanta, where he lived happily for 18 years before passing in 2012.
