Children’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month

August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month and a great reminder to have children’s vision checked. As schools begin soon, the month is dedicated to spreading awareness of the importance of healthy vision, knowing how to detect early vision problems in children, preventing eye injuries in children, and ultimately saving eyesight.

Some practical steps to take to protect a child’s eyesight include scheduling appropriately timed vision checkups and knowing the signs of vision impairment. Warning signs can be squinting, head tilting, sensitivity to light and sitting close to screens.
