According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are over 2.6 million Black-owned companies in the U.S., a number that’s been increasing over recent years.
According to a recent study by career-resource website Overheard on Conference Calls, Atlanta ranked No. 5 in the top 20 cities where Black-owned businesses are thriving. Results were compiled by analyzing 124 cities on seven different metrics including percentage of Black-owned businesses, the average number of employees, employee pay and revenue of Black-owned businesses as well as local unemployment rate.
Metrics indicated a high percentage, 29.9%, of Black-owned businesses in the Atlanta metro area.
