Last week, e-commerce giant Amazon surprised us when it announced it’s in the market for “HQ2,” a second North American headquarters. In its request for proposals, Amazon said it wanted its second headquarters to be the “equal” of its Seattle base of operations.
Though articles are already proclaiming Denver, Raleigh or Austin as clear frontrunners, Atlanta shows promise for landing the headquarters. Atlanta has the people, the right (and growing) labor pool, high quality of life with relatively affordable real estate and available land.
The RFP response deadline is Oct. 19, and we’ll hear the final decision next year.
