Last week, Alpharetta approved plans for Alpha Loop – an Atlanta Beltline-esque path with a three-mile inner loop and a five-mile outer loop. Alpha Loop will eventually provide easy access from the city’s downtown to Avalon, Northwinds and the Big Creek Greenway.
It’s no surprise that others would want to emulate the Beltline’s success. It boasts a 7:1 return on investment and an estimated $3 billion in private redevelopment in its first nine years.
Alpha Loop will take years to complete – one section may be completed by 2018 – but creating walkability and connectivity is worth the wait.
