A few years ago, when I noticed attendees nodding off during a post-lunch crisis training seminar I was leading, I decided to improvise.
I dispensed with the PowerPoint, invited the nappers to the front of the room, encroached on them with lights, camera and microphone and projected their image on the big screen. I asked the audience to suggest crises with which I surprised my “volunteers.”
I impersonated a pesky TV reporter and did my best to make the participants sweat. Most did. (See 100-second video.) Now it’s the most fun part of my job – and no one naps anymore.
