After several years of delay, the Real ID Act is set to become federal law on May 7. The act will require all residents 18 years and older to show a Real ID, passport or other federally approved ID to board domestic flights and enter some federal buildings.
Georgia began issuing Real ID-compliant driver’s licenses in 2012, which are distinguished with a gold or black star in the top right corner. Residents still in need of a Real ID can obtain one at any Georgia DDS location with the proper documentation showing their legal name, birth date and proof of citizenship.
