Atlanta has become a world-wide center for multicultural art, attracting heavy hitters including the recent African Cosmos: Stellar Arts exhibit at the Michael C. Carlos Museum.
Even though the exhibit closed in June, the Carlos Museum will replace it with the Indigenous Beauty: Masterworks of American Indian Art exhibit in October. The exhibit will feature 122 pieces from Native American tribes and First Nations across the continent.
Across town, the High Museum’s Fred and Rita Richman Gallery for African Art recently increased its African art collection by 60 percent, including new acquisitions from Nigeria, South Africa and the Ivory Coast. .
