Recently, Columbia Residential marked the completion of its third and final phase of Columbia Brookside in Athens. Columbia Brookside, a master-planned, mixed-income community, was built on the site of the former Jack R. Wells community and is one of Georgia’s first LEED-ND communities – a LEED system that integrates principles of smart growth, urbanism and green building into neighborhood design.
The development offers 370 units, compared to the 125 that were offered at the previous community, including a mix of senior residences and family apartments.
Though new to Athens, the mixed-income housing concept seems to be thriving.
