The city of Atlanta has partnered with Georgia Tech to design, implement and study Smart City initiative: the North Avenue Smart Corridor Project, approved by the Atlanta City Council in a recent meeting.
According to SmartATL, goals include: first-ever high-speed public Wi-Fi for an Atlanta corridor; deploy 100 connected devices to baseline mobility, public safety and sustainability KPIs; and demonstrate autonomous vehicle capability, among others.
The city will use research and analysis generated from the Smart City tools and research from Georgia Tech in transportation planning efforts. Expect recommendations for more efficient traffic flow and safety promotion.
