At Midtown Alliance’s annual meeting last week, Project for Public Spaces Founder Fred Kent demonstrated the difference between sparse uninviting public spaces and those that attract people.
Kent showed developers and designers international plazas that “create place,” inspiring “people to attract people.” Kent said the bottom three floors of a building are most important as they inform the human scale.
Think about which buildings look inviting the next time you drive down Peachtree. As we redefine our city, let’s think about the indicators of place that attract community members to come together, slow down and actually experience places in Atlanta.
