This past weekend while I was reeling from the Auburn Tigers’ season opener win (the best team in football!), 75,000 Tennessee and Georgia Tech fans filed into the newly opened Mercedes-Benz Stadium to watch the Vols narrowly defeat the Yellow Jackets in double overtime.
Some attendees took to social media with their complaints about the new stadium’s flaws. The main concern: exiting. Fans reported 45-minute long exit lines, closed escalators and lack of guidance when leaving the game Monday night. As fan safety is a chief concern, the stadium staff will hopefully fix these problems moving forward.
