My friend Ski is a serial entrepreneur who conveys the lessons he’s learned in handy aphorisms. A favorite is, “You can’t boil the ocean.”
Said another way, big opportunities can be overwhelming. To achieve strategic goals, managers must break them into objectives, then break objectives into tasks.
Once goals become objectives, each objective can be delegated. Those responsible must, in turn, break down those objectives into tasks, and tasks must go on To Do lists. To Do lists must then tie to calendars to help one manage time and measure progress daily.
So to meet your goal, have a breakdown.
