Being a daddy’s girl, I always thought mine was the strongest man in the world. Now I finally have proof.
My dad’s iron-rigging company, Smyrna Rigging, recently removed the iconic fiberglass, Olympic games-era peach on top of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers building just west of the Downtown Connector. It was no problem for his 400-ton crane to remove the 99,000 pounds of peach, frame and barrel, he told me. Of course it wasn’t.
I could not be more proud of my dad, who’s celebrating his 10th year in business, mostly subcontracting for general contractors.
