As the world remembers the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina this week, one Atlanta developer will also look back on five years of an award-winning mixed-income community in New Orleans – Columbia Parc.
Noel Khalil and Columbia Residential redeveloped one of the worst neighborhoods in the city – also one of the hardest hit by the storm – and turned it into a model for success.
Since opening in 2010, violent crime in Columbia Parc has decreased 99.9 percent, a school and health facility has opened and over 100 families were able to return to New Orleans and reside where they grew up.
