While shopping with mom this weekend, she commented she preferred outdoor retail and maybe indoor malls were dying. Surprisingly, many share this sentiment, as the retail industry is going through one of its most significant revolutions.
The retail development world fortunately has the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) to help it through this transformation. The organization is unveiling Envision 2020 next week, an initiative to provide developers and retailers a roadmap for the retail marketplace, which will include insight on brick-and-mortar and online unification, blended models and unprecedented intimacy with consumers.
