The Dinsmore House

by

We usually stay at a Hampton Inn when we go to Charlottesville, Virginia for reunions, opting for convenience over charm. On our last trip we found both.

We stayed in the eight-room historic Dinsmore House, closer to the grounds of the University of Virginia, built in 1817 by James Dinsmore, the inn’s architect and builder, and a master carpenter who worked on pavilions and dorms at UVA.

Our stay in the Veranda Room included a four-poster bed, deck overlooking the courtyard, a delicious daily breakfast, complimentary snacks and beverages, and a nightly wine and appetizer hour. Rates start at $119.
