Working with quarantined teen creatives and journalists, who are still figuring out their place in a world that is going through a global pandemic and a season of protest, is as rewarding as it sounds, but it is also just as grueling.
Although I am responsible for ensuring that their voices are heard and needs are met, I have to make sure I’m in the best mental space possible to even show up for them. Most days, that calls for me starting our morning Zoom calls with a laugh, although my night before may have ended with the complete opposite.
