To a boy with a stutter

Our parents weren’t overly political, yet we knew Joe Biden. Mom was a fan.

Not just elated when he made it to the White House with Obama or when he won his presidency, but a love from when we lived in Delaware and he was a senator. When she was pregnant with my sister in ’72, they thought she was miscarrying. She came into the same hospital as the Biden family after the car accident, which ultimately took his first wife and daughter. Mom always felt a connection. Because of her, we did too.

It’s the end of an era.
