In addition to Valentine’s Day, February is also a time to focus on our physical hearts by honoring American Heart Month.
The leading cause of death among men and women in the U.S., heart disease causes 1 in every 4 deaths each year. This month, help raise awareness about heart health risks and how to prevent heart disease.
Risk factors that appear, and now at younger ages, include obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. A healthy heart begins with healthy decisions – stay active, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, lower salt and sugar intakes and don’t smoke.
