If you had to pick a Facebook status for two plays by Steve Yockey, it would be “It’s really complicated.” The first play, The Thrush & the Woodpecker, is a twisty-plotted thriller that begins with a mother and son humorously sparring over his recent expulsion from college after an act of vandalism. The heat really turns up when an old acquaintance shows up with revenge on her mind.
The second play debuts Friday. Blackberry Winter is the poignant story of Vivienne as she deals with her mother’s descent into dementia.
Thrush runs through November 15; Blackberry Winter through November 22.
