Immersive light, sound exhibition at High Museum unlike any you’ve seen before

There is no author intro, no titles, no text and no adjacent gift shop at the new exhibition at the High Museum of Art. “Ryoji Ikeda: dataverse” contains video projections, some taking up an entire room, wall or floor, that Ryoki Ikeda created featuring visualizations of data extracted from mathematical theories and the study of quantum physics using open-source imagery from places like NASA and the Human Genome Project. I found it mesmerizing, fascinating and just a bit baffling.

Born in Japan, Ikeda is considered one of leading composers and media artists in the world.

The exhibition runs through Aug. 10.
