Don’t let Shirley Clarke Franklin’s stature or flower pins fool you – she’s an impressive force in Atlanta’s political and business circles.
After serving as Atlanta’s 58th and first African American female mayor, Franklin is now Executive Board Chair of Purpose Built Communities. She’s also on the board of other entities, including the National Center for Civil and Human Rights – one of her signature projects.
To honor Franklin and her vision, the Center will debut the annual Shirley Franklin Day November 14, featuring family activities and the former mayor. Admission is $15 for adults and free for children 18 and under.
