Todd Road: One of Atlanta’s oldest roads

When looking at a map, it’s easy to see Virginia-Highland was a planned development, with most of the streets built in grids. One exception is Todd Road, which connects Highland Ave. to Virginia Ave. at a unique angle.

Although maps reveal Todd Road was once an old wagon trail leading to the Todd family’s property during the Civil War era, it dates even further back as an Indian trail. Some famous homes later built along Todd Road include the Adair mansion and R.P. Carson home.

Although it’s now a paved street, traces of the old road still exist.
