Atlanta Prison Farm: Abandoned Urban Decay

by

Just off Key Road in southeast Atlanta lies the old Atlanta Prison Farm. Now abandoned, the property used to function as an agricultural space for prison inmates from 1945-1995. It is said to encompass about 400 acres, making it the largest green space in the city.

While the city of Atlanta owns the private property, it is outside of city limits in DeKalb County. Both have been reluctant to get involved with its restoration, which various groups have made efforts to achieve.

The Atlanta Prison Farm is a popular spot for photographers and urban explorers, albeit a risky venture.
