Liberty Plaza saw its largest crowd ever January 31. An estimated 3,500 people gathered there during the Atlanta March for Social Justice and Women. It was an incredible sight and a testimony to Liberty Plaza’s success as a public space.
Public spaces have been a powerful hallmark of any society since ancient civilizations. They’re a common ground for different people to come together and share stories, opinions, self-expression, goods and services.
Good designers prioritize flexibility when designing these spaces to allow for markets, festivals, entertainment, demonstrations, or just enjoyment of the space itself, with or without an agenda.
