I used to fly without fear

by Chris Butsch

I fly weekly without fear despite one turbulent flight above Asheville’s mountains and a roach-infested Air Cubana flight.

That changed this month with the second crash of the Boeing Max 8 model, on which I was scheduled last week on Southwest to Texas. I trust that airline, which changed the plane two days before President Trump announced its grounding.

The FAA? Not so much. “We have no basis to ground the aircraft,” one FAA official told The Washington Post early last week. “You had data. You had 350 dead bodies in four months,” countered a former FAA official. Agreed.
