AJC to end print edition after 157-year run

by The 100 Companies

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently announced it will publish its final print edition on Dec. 31, transitioning to a fully digital-only model beginning on Jan. 1, 2026.

In an email to subscribers, publisher Andrew Morse stated that shifting consumer habits have driven more readers to digital platforms, motivating the proactive change. Currently, the AJC has approximately 115,000 subscribers, with about 75,000 being digital-only, and aims to reach 500,000 online subscribers.

Despite the print edition remaining profitable, the pivot reflects broader media trends. The newspaper will continue offering an e-Paper, launch a mobile app and expand digital storytelling through video, podcasts and newsletters.
