Project Learning Garden

by admin

Atlanta kids will soon be swapping cafeteria fish sticks for their own organically grown vegetables through an innovative project that connects underserved communities to real food.

The Captain Planet Foundation founded by Ted Turner and now chaired by Laura Turner Seydel is test-piloting Project Learning Garden. Teachers will be equipped with a schoolyard garden, a garden cooking cart, gardening supplies, lesson kits and a summer garden management intern to develop a sustainable garden-based learning program.

The program strives to engage kids in multidisciplinary learning, while expanding children’s palates, exposing kids to healthy foods and developing an affinity for the outdoors.
