Our country veers deeper each day into a chasm of divisiveness. We don’t need to assess blame here (Gingrich, Clinton, Trump, media, etc.), because we are evenly divided on the origins of our disorder.
We are where we are. The question is: How do we get out of here? Was Charlottesville a foreshadowing of more strife? Will we devolve into civil war, again? Will we splinter into minority parties negotiating fragile majorities to elect Congressional leaders or a president? Will a foreign attack unite us?
Or will we take the longer, harder path: selflessness, compromise, patience, reflective listening, understanding – love?
