Why I Remain an Optimist

by Jan Schroder
hands holding the world

I don’t sweat small stuff. With my granddaughter joining our planet, I worry about long-term issues – climate change and nuclear war.

Yet, I remain an optimist. Not because I trust in any human – quite the contrary – I don’t trust us. I trust God, who created our beautiful world and certainly wouldn’t let us incinerate it.

Brinkmanship with North Korea? Boils down to understanding and communication as a recent Fresh Air interview confirmed. Climate change? Surely, divinely inspired innovation will deliver a technological solution to reduce carbon in our atmosphere. He has a plan. I can’t wait to witness it.
