The Barre Scene is completely different from any other barre studio I’ve attended. The space is luxurious and beautifully decorated, and the studio’s owner and main instructor, Katherine Akra, uniquely crafts her classes.
I accidentally arrived 30 minutes early, but Kat, a former professional dancer and one of the “barretenders,” made me feel right at home, asking me about myself and telling me about The Barre Scene.
The class I took, Barre Brawl, is essentially kickboxing using weighted hand gloves with some barre mixed in. The combination was great – the class was not only tough and effective, but entertaining too.
