   Today, we are discussing the small intestine, which lies between the stomach and large intestine and which is where much digestion and absorption of food occurs.

   The small intestine is composed of three distinct structures: the jejunum, the duodenum, and the ileum and is quite long, averaging 22.6 feet in adult males and 23.3 feet in adult women, although it can reach a length of 32.2 feet!
