“It set the priorities for what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
Bob Hope was living large at the pinnacle of New York’s PR world, but his family was miserable and lobbied to move back to Atlanta.
He was winning the argument until their car burst into flames on a trip through Arizona’s desert. “You’ve ruined my life,” his wife Susan said.
So back to Atlanta it was, and our city has been much the better for it. Bob co-founded Hope-Beckham and dug back into our community, where he’s been a sports marketing icon and inspirational leader ever since.
Next week, he leads 60 (mostly) Atlantans on his annual Honduras service trip.
