Now that I live only a mile away from my office, I’m often asked why I don’t walk to work. Perhaps it’s the heat, or laziness, but PEDS hopes to remove another hesitation by launching the Kill Speed/Save Lives Initiative.
According to PEDS, Atlanta’s pedestrian advocacy organization, most of the threat to pedestrians is caused by the speed of drivers. To raise awareness of this danger, PEDS is partnering with Abbadabba’s and distributing 4,000 “Slow Down” signs to neighborhoods.
If the initiative can put the brakes on speeding and help increase Atlanta’s walkability, maybe you’ll see me out there soon.
